What Good is Thinking

What you think thought means you are simply incorrect about and there’s no such thing as “not thinking”. The mental energy you’re referring to is active all the time and on its own.

This might well be a misunderstanding shared by some here - which is quite normal : if I am a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
If my whole purpose is self-concern, everything is understood in terms of loss and gain.
Some of us will be thinking that “not thinking means bliss” and be caught in the authority of that crazy thought.

All these discussions over years by many of us on freedom from known, content of consciousness, dysfunctional brain, illusion of I/ me etc. etc. has not freed the brain from its illusion.
Could it be that all these discussions are part and parcel of human brain game to keep continuity of I/me.

Have read many books of K, listen to his videos, gone through many discussion here. They have not been wasted because there has been many moments of insight/clarity, it is like a window opening and shutting down in seconds. But no complete mutation of the brain that K talked about.

Are these glimpses are part of brain activity to keep me hooked and interested but at the same time sustaining of the I/me , being taken for a ride.

What is missing. Is it SILIENCE ? Is it the only answer.

Silence might be a goal of the motivated mind - if we are affected by ideas about silence being golden for example, or lack of thought being bliss etc
So silence might arise from whatever is missing that might bring about that silence.

In our many discussions over the years, and today, is it possible to see what is missing? Not some mysterious thing that might get us to the marvelous prize of heaven, enlightenment, supreme intelligence etc - but simply what is the barrier to simple communication between brains - sometimes we say : between friends.

What is this resistence that makes listening to each other so difficult? Why is it that when you say something simple to me, I cannot understand you? Why is there conflict and confusion rather than simply listening?

The simple question is : inspite of all these discussions, listening to K ,reading what K said, etc, why in K’s words " no one got it ?"

What is missing? Why there is no seeing leading to complete mutation. Having partial insight now and then, almost every one here would have come across. But no complete mutation of brain. why?

As you said what is that resistance?

Is there something K could not communicate due to limitation of language ?
Is it probably one has to find out oneself,no amount of discussion, reading or listening to K will help.

Oh God, is it the desire to live K’s teaching a stumbling block…?

Or is it that it is not possible at all - the mutation K talked about. Resistance of combined billions of human brain prevents few brains from breaking out !

Feel like crying ?

Isn’t that obvious? You’re living a life and you want to live some one else’s? There’s no ‘teaching’ that you can adopt to get away from whatever part of your life that you want to get away from. Rather than find out what we’re running away from, we want to latch on to an image of what we think life ‘could’ be. We want to be different than we are and that fills us with conflict. It’s greed isn’t it? ‘Spiritual’ greed?

Sir, all that has been understood the " what is and what should be ".
What one trying to understand is what is the root stumbling block that prevents mutation of the brain.

Is it that brain is aware of its conditioning but unable to do anything about it. Has it becomes a slave to its own creation of I/me and is not able to do anything except some partial insight here and there.

As K pointed out, is the solution is complete insight that is beyond the brain and such an insight can not be invited.

Is this the reason he said " if they live the teaching, PERHAPS they MAY touch that ".

Does it not mean complete mutation where I / me is completely dissolved is not every one’s cup of tea. Is it the reason that over thousands of years and among billions and billions there are very few like, Jesus, Budhha, K or Ramana maharishi.

So should one here just be happy with few insights here and there and forget about complete mutation K talked about which is beyond brain and can not be invited.

One followed traditional methods for 20 years, then 30 years of K teachings , and one finds oneself in this state. May be one is completely wrong. Do not know. Still exploring !

He was asked if he could sum up his ‘teaching’ in one word, what would it be? “Attention” he said. “Pay attention”. “Be attentive when you are inattentive”…

“Repeation” is not a word. Why do you use it? What does it mean to you?

It isn’t always resistance, and “simply listening” doesn’t magically make what someone is trying to communicate comprehensible.

These are all good questions.

What is normally called a mantra Japa. Mostly a single or multiple sanskrit words repeated again and again. Most famous one is " Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare, Hare Krishna …" mostly by ISCON followers. Or “Om Nama Shivaya " or " Om Namo Narayanaya” by Shiva , Vishnu bhaktas.

Better than forgetting may be to explore the process of desiring complete mutation. What are the causes and consequences of yearning for enlightenment?

Yearning and striving is what I am, but when I ask myself why I yearn and strive, I realize the answer is: to be done with yearning and striving; to be free.

My problem is that by thinking I know what freedom is, I am yearning and striving for what I imagine freedom is, without realizing what I’m doing. Once I realize what I’ve been doing, I stop doing it. This realization could be the end of I, me, mine, or it could be a partial insight, which is fine with I, me, mine.

It is the experience and activity of yearning - a focus and outlook limited and conditioned by desire, and the actions based on loss and gain.

The teaching simply put is : look honestly at what you, as the movement of desire, are.

No more complicated language is needed, but no enlightened being can do the honest looking on my behalf.

No more words are necessary, what is necessary are the circumstances that force us to be honest - the idea being that when we see evil clearly we shall recoil.

The resistance is part and parcel of our experience - we act automatically from what should be. For example : they should be communicating in such a manner, they should not have OCD, they should not be autistic, they should not be suffering from borderline personality, they should not be foreign, be inattentive, not understand me etc…

Is the “evil”, being stuck in this tiny, petty place psychologically?

Yes - That’s certainly a very sad picture
The evil is the harm that is part and parcel of existing as sorrow - the harm that is necessarily part of living under the complete authority of selfishness, solely by the momentum of personal loss and gain - any chance of love, clarity and compassion is lost.

One of the consequences is the unconscious belief in psychological ‘time’: to ‘become’ enlightened in the future. An image of a psychological state ‘up ahead’ that I am not in now but aspire to reach. The mirage of desire.
