Unfortunately we are not dogs

I say its a meaningless question because we don’t know what the words mean, you say its not the right question because its a special word (or pointing at something special) that cannot be known.

We know what “sacred” means (according to the dictionary), but we don’t know what, if anything, is sacred because sanctity can’t be proved or demonstrated. So when someone speaks of what’s sacred, we either assume they know whereof they speak, or we dismiss them as believers.

As a youngling I used to say : “either everything is sacred, or nothing is” - the idea still works for me

It doesn’t work for me because the way I heard it was, “Yer pays yer money and yer takes yer chances”.
