One only has to take a look at the world to see how. For not having stopped working with these dualistic minds, trying to figure it out, searching, chasing dreams of this or that despite what K. and some others left for us to find out the truth or falseness of it in ourselves. The failure is having filled the mind with words and concepts instead of emptying it and see.
How does the “emptying” of the contents of the consciousness take place?
Believe me or not, I knew this was going to be the next question.
Now why do you ask this question when you already know the answer? Have you not been a child? When you are a child you are always asking here and there, “What is this? What is that?”, incessantly. Why? Because the child has an empty mind. So over the years the child gradually fills that empty space with words, concepts, and experiences. And eventually he starts to say “I know already what this and that is”, so he stops asking and starts accumulating, filling that empty space more and more.
So how is the contents of consciousness emptied you ask … Well, simply going back to being a child again, emptying the mind of all that psychological baggage with which I have filled it for years and that in the end has served me nothing more than to cause dissatisfaction and suffering to myself and others.
And how does one get back to being a child again? … Well, deeply questioning all that heavy psychological baggage that I have been accumulated over the years. Deeply questioning it in the same way as when I was a child I questioned everything I saw and observed (also in the adult people around me) WITHOUT refilling mind/consciousness ever again.
To walk the path of death without any baggage, that is the way of the wise.
Hi Dan
It’s a coincidence that in a short while from now we are going to listen / participate in an online Krishnamurti study work shop organised and conducted by Mr Kishore Khairnar from India and today’s topic is the same as the question posed by you - " Consciousness is made up of its content. Emptying the Content of Consciousness " - when I had seen your question I felt like sharing this info and below I’m going to share the link concerning the work shop if any one is interested in participating .
Few words I would like to say about the organiser Mr Kishore Khairnar who is not new to the forums. He came in contact with K in his prime years and spent most of his time teaching in Krishnamurti schools of India. We found his take on K teaching to be very deep and his method of going into the subject very simple, systematic and comes out with lot of clarity.

Well let me complete the task which I mentioned above about the online Krishnamurti work shop . The above is the mail id of Kishore Khairnar - interested participants can join the group by writing to him.
That baggage is knowledge and knowing, right? The child doesn’t know, so is free to learn everything fresh. The psychological accumulation is knowing what my pain is all about…knowing what fear is…what anger is…greed…the labels themselves of fear and anger are part of the baggage. They themselves are a barrier to seeing. I KNOW because as a child I accepted the authority of those who told me about what I am and what I should or should not be.
Thanks for sharing that info Pavani. Unfortunately I won’t be attending but the subject seems to me to be the most important. It is understood that there is no method involved in this ‘emptying’ and though the ‘self’ is an accumulation of experiences over time, time can’t be a factor in undoing what has been done. The ‘emptying’ or ‘dying to’ must be done in each moment. The factor for that is, as far as I can see, awareness, a choiceless awareness that has no other motive than to see… Maybe you will share here any insights that come out of these discussions.
