Bohm dialogue

Is truth the same as reality for you?

It is for me. They both point to what’s really going on here.

Reality

We made up the word to point at something… what? That which is not false? That which is true? How does thought discern which is which? Based on what?

How does one “negate” anything? Things, whether they be actual, conceptual, or illusory, exist, so it makes more sense to determine whether a “thing” is accurate, applicable, or appropriate in a particular context, and allow it or deny it. No thing, be it actual or conceptual or illusory, can be negated…it can only be deemed misplaced, and discarded.

The way things actually are?

Looking at this in terms of ‘energy’ , if I am searching for Truth say, that searching takes energy. That’s a ‘positive ‘ energy fueling that search, it may take years and take me all over the earth. But if I somehow have the realization that such a search is futile for whatever reasons, that realization ‘negates’ that positive energy and the search ends.

Searching for Truth is as vain as searching for God. The only truth we can verify is what is false.

Why call it positive? It’s only clear up the mess which make it possible to come in sight!

The dialogue dialogued. It was mostly a get to know each other affair, share stories with the group, talk about what makes a good dialogue. Wasn’t what I expected (bring collective attention to our thinking/thought), but found out afterwards that it’s common to focus on the process rather than the content while the group is getting to know itself. I expect it will be more Bohm-ian next time.

Do you consider yourself to be one of those “geeks” and why?

The next dialogue is Monday, May 9th. Here’s FB link:

Yes - though I misspoke - I actually meant nerd.
Because I started listening to K when I was 12 years old (at the Saanen gatherings) and I’m still interested in discussing “freedom of intelligence” 40 years later.
The understanding of the problem of motivation and authority really crystallised for me when I got interested in meditation - settling finally on Zazen ( no goal, no method apart from the physical action of sitting )

This morning I was quietly watching the news with the images from Kiev where people were queuing for two hours or more to buy a stamp from the Russian warship that had sunk. Proud as if they had been part of it themselves.

Is that also ZaZen?

Knowing that the bombs are destroying lives only about 2200 km away from my door because of a nationalistic system that accuses the other of the nazi practices they using themselves in their own country.

If our chosen practice of choiceless awareness is to watch TV ~ I suppose that one should be attentive to our conditioned responses to what we see, and to be careful not to be lured away from what is happening on screen by our knowledge, interpretations and judgments ~ no trace of war being present when the next segment about culture or politics or cake is being broadcast

This is a Contradictio in terminis but one can look at tv or doiing whatever one does and being choislessly aware of what’s going on in your mind.
